… that you plan to leverage your synergies to reach out to customers.

‘Cause leverage, synergy and reach out have been tabbed as being among the most overused words in the workplace.  Not to mention one of my own overworked phrases, at the end of the day.  When I hear myself say that, it makes me want to grind my teeth.

In an article at wallstreetandtech.com Executive Editor Penny Crosman quotes a survey conducted by Accountemps of overused words in the workplace.  The question basically asked: What is the most annoying or overused buzzword in the workplace today?

“When business or industry terms become overused, people stop paying attention to them,” said Max Messmer, chairman of Accountemps. “The best communicators use clear and straightforward language that directly illustrates their points.”

Some words had the unique distinction of making both the 2004 and 2009 lists, including the previously noted synergy and at the end of the day, plus solution, think outside the box, on the same page, and customer-centric.

Heck, in our world (the tech business), you can hear folks use about four of those in a single sentence.  And don’t even get me started on value-add…
